FirstString Abstinence Education FirstString is the prevention services (Abstinence Until Marriage) program of Heartbeats. FirstString provides five-day high school and middle school programming in eleven school districts in Licking and surrounding counties. FirstString is supported by local and/or federal grants. FirstString uses the Relationships Under Construction curriculum which includes lessons on choices and consequences; sexually transmitted infections; relationships, marriage, fathers and parenting choices for teens; and media and cultural influences on sexual activity.
